I've tried a few replacement LED taillights for my bike but I've noticed that most 1157 (dual filament) replacements don't make much of a difference between low and high. Typically, an inactive low beam configuration (brakes off) is already very bright, and it gets even brighter with the brakes on. This causes confusion when people think your brakes are stuck. I've had complaints from other drivers that it's hard to tell when I'm braking. Sylvania doesn't cause such confusion. The configuration of Sylvania's chasers is much closer to "real" car headlights - the difference between off and on is really obvious and you won't confuse them. Active Brake is still a good, bright and fast acting LED. I would recommend these over the JDM options and the ones on the Super Bright LED site. I've tried at least 3 variations of 1157 other than this one and I think Sylvania works better. Replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs, which look and work like a reasonable replacement, is preferable to me and ideally means safer.
