Review on πŸ”΅ Byron Statics Portable CD Player: Anti-Skip, LCD Display, Headphone Jack - Teal by Shane Hartford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best portable CD player I've ever had!

I've had quite a few portable CD players over the years. Some of them were pretty good, some were mediocre and some were downright bad. This is the Byron Statics Portable CD Player, a personal CD player with anti-skip and shock protection, headphone jack and large LCD display for in-car and home use. non-rechargeable, use AA teal batteries > excellent in every way. It plays standard CDs, my own "burned" CDs and CD-RWs, and MP3 CDs, I've tried all types. The controls are easy to learn and use if you FAST read the manual (but you'll definitely want to read it). It has something I've never seen in a cheap portable CD player: speed control. I don't know how often I'll use it, but it's nice to have and quite unique. I especially like the fact that every time you turn on the player, the default volume is #15; it's not loud, but it's not too quiet either. When using headphones I set the volume to #20. This default volume of #15 ensures that you'll never be blown away when you turn on the player with headphones. As for the headphones, the player comes with headphones that are probably of mediocre quality (I haven't tried them). But this CD player is so good it needs the very best wired headphones you have. I own a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones, Black, Advanced Technology, 90 Degree Rotating Ear Pads, Professional Ear Pads/Headband, Detachable Cables Included > and you should be able to appreciate the sound quality of this player hear through them! Also, this unit has the best anti-skip circuitry of any portable CD player I've owned. Unobtrusive, installs very quickly (virtually no waiting for install) and works great no matter what you do with the player. Two RevainBasics batteries last quite a long time: I played two CDs and the batteries are only about a third empty. You can also connect this player to a power outlet. Here's a minor gripe: it comes with a cable, but you'll need to bring your own charger. It seems to be a modern trend and I don't like it. Another minor complaint is that it doesn't come with a carrying case. (Remember the time EVERYTHING came in a case?) Luckily I had my old Jensen carrying case which contained a Jensen portable CD player that had died long ago. (I usually keep dead crates of product; you never know when they might be useful.) But aside from those minor complaints, I can say with absolute certainty that this is by far the best portable CD player I've ever had. As I said above, the sound quality it produces requires the best headphones you have and this player is good enough to be used as a CD player in your stereo. Of course, I can't comment on durability (and my old portable CD players didn't last very long; most "died" after just a few years, and in three cases months), but after carefully observing the design, I did think it will last a long time. At its current price of $28.01, I consider it a steal. There is one more point I should mention, although it is not important: the packaging, the manual and the device itself indicate that this is a "portable" CD player. As I mentioned, I've had many "portable" CD players over the years, but this is the very first "portable" CD player I've owned. (Someone in China should learn English a little more carefully!) Jokes aside, the manual, although written in Chinglish a bit, is easy to understand and comprehend. If you buy this player, I strongly recommend you to read this manual. Especially young people who may be unfamiliar with "old technologies" will find this guide complete and very helpful. opinion is the only one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thank you for reading this and considering my opinion. Lawrence H. Balk
