Perfect at first, but now it isn't.

Update: After several months of reliable performance, it began to show a problem with reading discs. It will frequently play part of a disc and then somewhere early in program, at the end of a track, it will just stop and freeze up. It occurs with both commercial and home-burned CD's. The only thing you can do is restart it, but it will stop at the same point every time. I can play those same discs on other players, such as my car, my DVD players and Walkman disc player with no problems, so I'm

Pros
  • 17.1 x 11.25 x 4 inches
Cons
  • May not offer high enough sound quality for audiophiles or music enthusiasts

i like this machine

I like this machine! Because of the way I play cds (like a DJ) I tend to wear out cd players in very short order so, I've been buying cheap, disposable players the last couple of years. I got tired of the poorer sound quality but, had no intention of buying another carousel style player (too many things to go wrong & total the whole machine). I was glad to find a pro-grade single disc player @ a reasonable (if it lasts a while!) price. So far, I've been very impressed w/sound quality & ease of…

Pros
  • Center-mounted drive mechanism
Cons
  • Not compatible with high-resolution audio formats such as FLAC or WAV

Solid, Good Single CD Player

Do you know how hard it is to find a component CD player that plays only one disc? I don't like having my CD's lost in the caruousel. I always wanted the equivalent of an oold vinyl record player - you choose what you are going to listen to, and you listen to it.The negative reviews here gave me pause about this one. My only guess is that perhaps some players were knocked out of alignment during shipping, or that perhaps some reviewers don't care for their CD's very well. All I can say is that…

  • 7.1 pounds

Disappointing eventually it did work

I upgraded to 3 stars because I got back on the horse, it had all the features that I wanted and it was a Teac. Some of the explanation lies in the fact that they are produced in China and not Japan.I ordered a refurbished unit through on of Revain's affiliates. My thinking was that at least someone would have to test it which was missing in the first unit.I held my breath when I put the first disc in hoping it wouldn't spit it back at me without playing it and in fact it worked flawlessly. It…

Pros
  • LCD with music calendar
Cons
  • Small LCD display that may be difficult to read from a distance

A fine basic CD player

For people in a hurry: I've had this TEAC CD-P1260 CD player for about 7 months, listening to it almost every day (or several hours a week), it sounds great and has worked flawlessly. The built-in headphone jack/amplifier works well. I am very pleased with the quality. This TEAC P1260 is a basic CD player, meant to be installed as part of a stereo system for listening to music over speakers, though it's possible to use it all by itself by plugging headphones into the jack on the front. This…

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • No volume control on the actual unit, must be adjusted using a remote or external speakers

Terrific single-disc CD player especially for the price

I think this CD player is getting an undeservedly bad rep in much of the feedback on here.I should start by mentioning that I am not an audiophile. I have a decent audio setup based around basic stereo (no digital surround-sound) consisting of a Harman Kardon receiver and Sony tower speakers. While these originally retailed for several hundred dollars each, they are far below the price range of the kind of high-end components that an audio expert would own and require. That said, I currently own

Pros
  • 32-selection random memory program
Cons
  • Limited remote control functionality compared to other CD players on the market

A fine sounding, but unasuming cd player.

OK so the Teac CD-P1260 won't impress audiophiles; Its not built like a Soviet tank, doesn't hypnotize the user with colorful readouts to rival anything seen on the bridge of the starship Enterprise, has only a basic remote control lacking even a on/off button (for that I shaved off one star.), connects to the amp only via (gasp) archaic RCA cables, and its front panel has all the industrial design esprit of a live bait bucket. Ok, so what. The 1260 works just fine. Load a cd, push play, and out

Pros
  • 2 AA batteries required.
Cons
  • Lacks advanced features such as shuffle or repeat play modes

TEAC CD Player Review

I purchased the TEAC CD-P1260 CD player to replace an old Sony 5 CD carrousel player. The old Sony unit still played CD just fine, but the carrousel mechanism had difficulty moving from CD to CD. My evaluation of the TEAC CD-P1260 player is relative to the old Sony unit.Pluses: o Simplicity. The CD loading mechanism is fast, simple, and, I hope, reliable. o Sound quality: It is at least as good, possibly better than, the old Sony unit. o Intro Check: This is a feature that is new to me. I find…

Pros
  • Several Playback Modes including Program, Repeat, Shuffle, and Intro Play
Cons
  • Lack of Bluetooth connectivity for wireless playback

A quality player overall

I was pleased to find a CD player that still played one CD at a time, which is all you can listen to, so I never understood why I should get a multi-CD player. It's just me and maybe a few friends listening, it's not a dance party. Anyway, I've had this player for several months and it sounds great. The controls are easy to understand. The only thing I miss is an option to view the time on the disc, time per track or time remaining on the disc or track. I haven't used the remote very much, so…

Pros
  • Home Theaters
Cons
  • No digital or optical audio outputs, limiting connectivity options for high-end audio equipment

Excellent single disk player.

I purchased a Teac CD-P1260 to replace a simular Pyle single disk CD player (PT688CU) that was nothing but trouble. After living with it for a month, I have to say that I really like it and it is much superior to the Pyle unit. The Teac CD-P1260 loads/recognizes a disk really fast.It sounds excellent both compared to the pyle unit and to other CD players I have used. It seems to have very low harmonic distortion for one thing and it sounds very musical. As far as playing MP3 disks, it is a…

Pros
  • CDP1260
