Review on πŸ” Enhanced SEO: Belkin OmniView SOHO Series 4-Port KVM Switch with Audio by Jason Matthews

Doesn't work with Linux!

I have an old Omnicube to which I have connected two Linux boxes, a Solaris box and a Windows box. I needed another KVM and liked the audio component of this unit. I've also had good results with my old Omnicube, so I went with this one. Unfortunately, this device does not work properly with Linux! With a box of RH Linux and a box of Windows, everything is fine; However, as soon as you add a second Linux box to this KVM, the mouse fails. I've tried switching mice, switching ports, switching between USB and PS/2, and using different cables. Eventually I called Belkin and was told that there is a TID for Linux and that XF86Config needs to be modified to use PS/2 instead of IMPS/2. Well I tried that and as soon as I restarted X the mouse crashed again. I've never returned anything in the mail due to the hassle, but this unit is useless to me so it's going back!
