Review on Toshiba XD-E500 1080p Upconverting DVD Player with Enhanced Detail by Edward Noble

I have a second player; The first just froze after a week. Unplugging fixed the problem - at least temporarily - but I wasn't sure how long it would last so I changed it. (Yes I have the same model. I haven't learned my lesson.) So the new one was fine for 3 months. It now intermittently doesn't output an HDMI signal on startup - Power Cycling fixes that issue - and occasionally makes a huge burp through the audio (which I don't have on the HDMI output). It looks a bit cheap. and feel even cheaper. But that's pretty much what you'd expect from electronics at this price point. The physical buttons on the device are small and unresponsive, but that's what the remote is for. Image quality is good. Can't say it's a huge improvement over my previous DVD player without upscaling. Perhaps my expectations on that front were too high.
