Review on πŸ”₯ The Avid Shorty Ultimate Front Cantilever Brake: Achieve Unparalleled Braking Performance by Len Cooper

All: Performance, Handling, Looks

I love these brakes (I bought them as a kit so this review includes both front and rear brakes). Great stopping power but even better modulation and control, plus they look about as sexy as a set of cantilever brakes can get. Amazed more than the price - they are expensive. But I drive more than twenty miles a day through Seattle on busy, hilly, and often wet roads, so my brakes are essential for both quick, sometimes unexpected stops and slowing down monstrous climbs in less than ideal conditions β€” sometimes both. So I took the risk and explained that both sets of brakes together cost about three tanks of fuel when I drive to work. I'm so glad I took the risk, the Ultimates have completely changed the way my bike rides. The brakes give you an extra sense of confidence and control, making your commute more comfortable and safer. It's still hard to believe they're cantilevered (which [generally] can be a bit bumpy or jerky [compared to other braking systems]). wet and dry on my aluminum rims. Although these brakes are almost infinitely adjustable, I never had to touch them after initial adjustment. I average about 400 hilly city miles per month and used up the original set of brake pads in about 4 months. I've been using my second set of pads for two months now and have no problems to report.
