This bug lantern is my second attempt at finding a working bug lantern. I ordered another highly rated model with a fluorescent light and it stopped killing bugs after the third night even though the light was still on. I sent back the defective flashlight and was looking for an LED flashlight as I thought the LED light would last longer and use less power. While some reviews complain that their LED light is dim, my 2021 model is just as bright as the one I've previously purchased. Insect light kills an average of 150 small stink bugs each night. This has drastically reduced the bug infestation I was encountering. The unit is designed to hang on the wall, but I keep mine on a flat surface. I need to secure it so a curious cat doesn't accidentally knock it over. No problem. While most of the bugs die and fall into the lower bowl, some fall to the side and need to be removed. This isn't a problem as I put the paper wrap under the light to catch the affected bugs that didn't make it into the tray. Some bugs become electrified and stick to a metal grid. I turn off the light, WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES, then use a thin bamboo skewer to gently tap the bugs off the grid. Common sense is not to use metal wire to clean the rust to avoid electrocution. I clean it the day after a night of use just to make sure it's working as efficiently as I want to kill as much as possible.
