It's not so much the size as the lack of quality control in production. The inner floor was actually incomplete in both the left and right shoes. The bottom padding has stopped (been cut off) in various places on each shoe. The last 3/4 inch leading to the toe was missing on the left boot and 1-1/4 inch on the right boot! Just 1/4 inch to the open sole! It goes without saying that they were unwearable and I am returning them. I gave them two stars instead of one just for looks. You look pretty decent. The N width was actually quite narrow for me, most N's are still too wide. The length (11-1/2 for me) was a bit short, I could have used a 12.
