I hooked it up to my 48v battery and it put out 12v. No wonder. Connection was simple - two wires for 48V and two wires for 12V. The converter consumes a large instantaneous current when it is first connected; enough to make a significant spark. The current drops immediately to a very low stable value (according to the manufacturer <0.01A), which does not noticeably discharge the battery, so it can remain connected indefinitely. I leave it plugged in all the time and don't see any signs of battery drain. The converter powers my golf cart's headlights, taillights, and horn.
