Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Four Seasons 26775 Cap & Valve Air Conditioning System Seal Kit: Protect and Improve AC Performance by Issac Smart

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked on a 1995 Chevy k1500

This kit kept the service port valve from leaking on the high side (large male aluminum male coupler in photo; used on most GM high pressure sides). And Schrader valves (3 small devices) stopped the leak at the underside service port. The Schrader valve on the low-side service port can be removed and replaced with the R134A No-Loss Schrader Valve Remover/Installer without the "extraโ€ steps on the high-side. Unfortunately, if your high side connection is leaking, you will need to recover all of the R134A refrigerant before attempting to replace the high side. The large aluminum service port contains NO replaceable parts. If you are removing a large service port, you will need a high side octagon socket service port (some Fords have a similar service port coupler on the bottom and there is a dedicated socket for that too) to remove it. Of course there are "other" do-it-yourself methods that might work, but I wouldn't install a new one using other do-it-yourself methods. And no, an SAE or metric socket will not fit. So after removing the high-side service port coupler, lubricating the gasket with the manufacturer's specified AC oil, and installing a new coupler, the system has been exposed to the weather (air and moisture are bad!). You will need to replace the receiver/drier (contains a non-replaceable desiccant that removes any residual moisture AFTER proper evacuation) and serves as a storage location for the manufacturer specified air conditioning oil (yes, you will also need the air conditioning manufacturer specified oil). How much and what type depends on your manufacturer's specification for a collector/dryer replacement. The system must then be evacuated (using an HVAC vacuum pump or R134A compatible recovery, evacuation and charging system) to remove air and moisture. Replace those plastic service port plugs at the same time! While they protect the ports from debris, they play a role in sealing those pesky Schrader valves. Note: You cannot fix a leaking Schrader valve with a new cap! You can't cap a new Schrader valve or service sleeve with an old cap! They work hand in hand.
