Review on Enhanced Outdoor Version of RADEX RD1503 Dosimeter: Unlimited Particle Detection by Eric Temple

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Overall good but not without expectations.

I just bought this item. I can't judge the long-term reliability yet. I would like to make some comments about this product for future buyers. First of all, I tried out an expensive professional model and got a few key data. Overall I find this product sensitive and gives stable readings. The good thing is that it only checks a narrow range of 0.059.99 µSv/h which is good enough for everyday use because when it reaches 1 µSv/h it shows low radiation and says nothing above 9.99 µSv/ off. H. For most background levels it should be between 0.1 and 0.2 µSv/h. For this reason, the manufacturer has set the standard alarm level to 0.3 µSv/h. However, I have two negative points: 1) When it's hand held, I feel it's too weak. I would have preferred it to be a little more durable so you have a strong feel in your hand; 2) This product for home use is a bit overpriced. I want to sell it for $89 to $120.

Pros
  • Industrial and scientific
Cons
  • Unfashionable
