This is the perfect backpack for princesses, loving toddlers or preschoolers. We've used this backpack for preschool, dance classes, plane trips, sleepovers at grandparents' house, and packing toys to keep the little one entertained while she waits for big sister in gym class or soccer games. The colors are beautiful and bright. - Exactly as pictured. The material is not plastic or vinyl - it is similar to the material you would expect from a JanSport backpack. The backpack has two spacious compartments. In use for over a year, very well maintained. We've also washed it in the washing machine a few times and it still looks great.** If you're looking for a daycare backpack, you need a bigger backpack. A standard-sized pocket file will fit in this backpack, but with difficulty - you have to fold the corners, so it's not ideal for kindergarten. My preschooler is tiny and this backpack fits her better than the standard school backpack, but I chose the standard school backpack anyway - she can handle it and grow into it.
