MDR-CD900ST VS MDR V6

I bought this unit thinking it would be better than the MDR-V6 which I have had for almost 35 years based on Zeos recommendation. It's not like this. When I bought it I bought replacement ear pads which also fit the V6 for comfort as standard ear pads are cheap and put them on the headphones while listening. The sound in these headphones is too thick compared to the V6. The low frequencies sounded like there was too much of it. The midrange was thicker compared to the v6, but that's because it was trying to compensate for the bass boost. As far as I remember, the highs were fine. I had to send it back after two days of use. These headphones might be ok if I use an EQ, but since I don't have headphones for my headphones and I don't use tone controls on my stereo, they just aren't for me. BTW I have since replaced the stock cable and earpads on my V6. My V6, which has been dormant for almost 20 years (due to worn ear pads), has been revived thanks to a YouTube video showing how to do this. The new cable I'm using is 23 AWG shielded wire. These are my only Sony headphones. I still love them as everyday headphones after almost 35 years. I mainly use it with the portable DAC on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Tab 6. The standard MDR-V6 is good as is. Plug it into any headphone amp and it just works. The sound of it is beautiful. The bass is very impressive. Verrisivle is the word I would use to describe it. The mids and highs are great. The depth and soundstage is incomparable to my more expensive $1000 headphones which are the perfect headphones for home use. The layering is impressive as the bass can be deep without overwhelming the V6's mids or highs.
