Review on ๐Ÿ“น StarTech.com Composite to USB Video Capture: S Video Converter with TWAIN and Mac Support by Ronny Prather

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works best with video converters

Pros = Works with slower processors (Pentium D - Duel Core); Does it work with USB 2.0 portsCon's = Doesn't work with non-proprietary software like OBS; The proprietary software is very basic and only recognizes this recording device, and is sorely lacking in meaningful settings. If you're looking for a bare grip that works on slower machines, buy it. If not, look for a capture like the Elgato HD60s, i.e. if you have a quad-core i5 (not 2-core 2-thread) with USB 3.0 to use it with. UPDATE 1 *** After spending a lot of time and changing settings. way I was able to run this in OBS. Audio still doesn't sync properly, but works. UPDATE 2 *** Audio is now synced to OBS and working fine. The capture software (Stream Catcher) I originally downloaded and installed with the latest drivers does not play video after installing OBS, audio but no video. I spoke to a StarTech representative and have not yet resolved this issue, but the company was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. In any case, I'll probably just use OBS.
