Works best with video converters

Pros = Works with slower processors (Pentium D - Duel Core); Does it work with USB 2.0 portsCon's = Doesn't work with non-proprietary software like OBS; The proprietary software is very basic and only recognizes this recording device, and is sorely lacking in meaningful settings. If you're looking for a bare grip that works on slower machines, buy it. If not, look for a capture like the Elgato HD60s, i.e. if you have a quad-core i5 (not 2-core 2-thread) with USB 3.0 to use it with. UPDATE 1 ***

Doesn't work with Win 10 Pro Ver 1803

The device could not be made to work on a PC with WIN 10 Pro Ver 1803, even after a long time contacting StarTech technical support. Although Device Manager indicated that the drivers were loaded and working correctly, Movavi Video Editor (included with the device) was unable to detect the device. The same with Adobe Premiere. Loaded on a laptop under Win 8.1 without problems. Movavi Video Editor recorded the video in an .MKV file which was not recognized by Windows Media Viewer or Adobe…

Step-by-step guide: How to install 1803 on WINDOWS 10!

To play Windows 10 Go to the Startech support site. Enter the model number (SVID2USB23) in the search box. Download the latest drivers and extract the ZIP file. Root and TWAIN. Connect your device. Go to Device Manager (right click on start menu). In the audio, video and game drivers look for two entries for the USB 2681 device. Right-click for each entry and click Update Driver. "Browse my computer manually for software." "Let me pick drivers from a list." When you see USB Audio Device…

Call Star Tech Support before using

My goal with StarTech was to capture video/audio from my old JV camcorder while also playing my old VHS-C cassettes [cable] and audio [white and red wires] with a Vizier TV. As the camera video was played back on the Vizio, it appeared the StarTech USB2HDCAP would accept video and audio signals and convert the camera video into modern digital video formats. So I ordered a StarTech USB2HDCAPS video capture unit. After receiving it I called Star Tech Support and they took my computer to download…

  • I don't remember

Excellent product. Windows drivers worked fine on Win7x64. but because of the way things are with DirectX and WDM. A simple driver installer "cannot” easily install this type of device, it requires at least three separate manual setups. or more if you let USB plug-and-play get out of hand. It's tiring. Installation of each recording device driver. tiring. (Afterwards) Twain32 works in Irfanview, Artweaver, XnView and everything I've tried, Twain32 Live Preview and Image Capture uploads a…
