I bought this keyboard because I've wanted to try this style of keyboard for a long time. I work nights so I always try to reduce eye strain and thought that would be ideal. For the most part, this is what it claims to be as a backlit keyboard. The problem is that the letters on the keys themselves are missing, making them look like a gray plastic screen that lets the colors through, but the opacity of the letters/numbers themselves is still too great, especially for keys in the corners. If they were clear plastic instead of gray, the letters would be much more visible. You have to narrow your eyes to some keys, especially the Fn keys, even in complete darkness and only with the keyboard lit. In general, the keyboard itself is built in by default, with the exception of (1) additional backlight on/off button on the front and the brand name in a large plastic rectangle above the directional keys. Another problem is that (2) it appears very cheap; The buttons are raised on springs over a flat sheet of plastic, allowing a lot more dust and dirt to get in. There are also no kickstands on the back like traditional keyboards; I had to put mine on a small cardboard box. The mouse is the least troublesome thing in this set, although the black center button doesn't seem to do anything at all and the colors cycle through the entire color palette automatically. .
