I'm a bit embarrassed by bad reviews about how difficult this tool is to use or that it doesn't work. I can't do hair. I have the same hairstyle after the big perm fiasco of 1986. It's straight, thin, flat and I have a lot of it. He never wants to keep a curl. I received my Tyme iron last night. I watched Tyme's basic tutorial video and got to work. It took me 10 minutes to get it down. I then slept on my hair and woke up with a little less frizz but more volume. My hair is really curly, it's very straight and shiny. I didn't do any special preparation before I started curling, because again, the whole art of "good hair" keeps reminding me of that. In terms of price, yes, there are cheaper straightening irons that you can use to create curls. I have one and it works moderately. I can also buy a handbag from Walmart, but I would prefer Louis Vuitton. My Louis Vuitton lasts longer and better. If you can afford it then the price is worth it.
