I definitely prefer this light to ring lights. And it fulfills a "dual function”. First, I can position it better than the ring light to avoid the round reflection in my glasses. I also like the general light better. Until I got it, I didn't realize it had a wide range of height adjustment. This allows you to place the light source in any place convenient for you. The icing on the cake was the addition of a separate phone holder and remote control. The light can rotate and tilt up or down. So it's super versatile. And here's the best part for me: I'm going to use this light for crafting and jewelry making. A light source that can be converted into different tones such as daylight, warm, etc., as well as being dimmable, is exactly what I wanted for my jewelry work. It's a soft light that doesn't cast a hard stain on my work. My eyes don't tire that easily. And I can check my work in different lighting conditions. I'd say I'll be using this light most of the time for these tasks rather than video conferencing and calls simply because I spend more time creating artwork than I do conference calls. But when those calls come in, I'll look way better than before!
