OEM Look - Installed on a 2012 Nissan Altima

I installed this along with a 4.3" auto dimming car rear view mirror with two AUTO-VOX video inputs. I only gave the camera four stars because it could/should have had more information to get a clear idea of the mounting location and what image you can expect based on that. Several others have posted great tips in their reviews - keep this in mind Get advice and get the right size drill bits and nuts. Altima seemed to have an obvious factory mounting location under the chrome trim on the trunk. Take your time - this camera plus mirror took me about 5 hours. If you installed Altima in the same spot I would move the camera forward about a half inch further than me . I measured carefully and my rig has the camera almost flush with the surface of the trunk - the mount looks very neat but the picture could be better if it were just slightly forward as advertised. I drilled two holes: one in the chrome molding (I had to remove it to do this) and one in the trunk lid itself. I also carefully deburred, painted all the exposed metal and used silicone sealant for weather protection. If you're going through the same setup as I've outlined, I'd recommend throwing away the lock washer, as screwing the camera down can cause the fairing to crack (it's just chrome plastic). Proper sizing of the nut was neat as others have pointed out, especially as I used sealant which got on the threads and probably acts as thread lock. No problem with powering the reversing light (the driver's side had to go, of course) although I cleared my own floor in the trunk as I didn't see an obvious place for it. I recommend having a ziplock bag and tape handy (a multimeter is also helpful if you have one). I have routed cables through factory access areas under carpets, seats, trim, etc. Overall, this is a huge improvement.
