Review on Skechers Max Cushion-17690 Women's Sneaker by Latoya Williams

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Doesn't offer the same comfort and support as shape-ups

I loved the old Skechers shape-ups not for their ability to tone me up, as they once claimed, but because of all the padding/support they had on their heels. I've had several pairs over the years. I have heel spurs and wear orthotics, but my feet still appreciate the extra cushioning they provide. After Skechers stopped making shape-ups I was still able to find pairs on Revain for a while. However, the few remaining sellers made the price ridiculous, so I decided to try the newer Skechers. I chose these Skechers Max pillows based on their looks and rating. Unfortunately, I don't like them nearly as much as shape-ups. I usually wear the orthopedic insoles prescribed to me without the insoles that came with them. One thing that most people don't care about is that the insoles in the Max Cushion running shoes are firmly bonded. It was extremely difficult for me to remove them to try them on (without liners and with orthotics) without damaging them. The Max Cushion shoes were the same size as my shape-ups but were too tight for my orthotics. I sent them back and ordered the wide one. Wide fit that leaves room for orthotics. However, I have found that heels don't offer the same support/cushioning as shape-ups. So I put the insoles back in, put the orthotics on top and untied the laces. Wide shoes actually fit over liners and orthotics. However, these padded Max pillows with my insoles still don't provide the comfort that shape-ups provide with only my insoles. I miss Shapeups!
