You don't need a "HIGH VOLTAGE!" daughter board and you can choose not to. I love that it gives you one board to adjust all monitor settings and I've actually used it to make my office monitor look a lot better from the angle I'm looking at it. Gives you HDMI, VGA and DVI plus a 3.5mm HDMI audio jack which I use to get audio from my Pi. I can't say anything bad about this product. Works as intended and is very easy and straightforward to set up and use!
