Excellent value for money, reliable

I use this flash on my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II for a very specific purpose: macro photography of (mostly) insects, reptiles, amphibians and sometimes fungi. I use this flash with a DIY diffuser that I attach with tape. I also travel a lot and they are durable and work great in jungle like areas with high humidity. I always carry a backup because every flash will break sooner or later, and they're cheap. They were extremely reliable (very, very seldom they didn't work, but I don't know why. The problem could very well be with the camera) and the two Eneloop batteries (blue) they require almost always last a whole night of photographing. For me it's usually 30 or 40 shots, but I've taken over 100 with fully charged batteries. They work out of the box (no need to learn much) but I use TTL flash and reduce/increase the light output with the in-camera flash compensation control. I also used this flash as a slave. I recommend buying two while they are still making them. You pay less than a blitz from the big boys. I'm posting a few photos with minimal edits and you can see more on IG at jeremy.nature.photos. All these images were taken with Godex unless otherwise noted. and in all cases I used a homemade diffuser. Finally, I use the flash no matter the light conditions, although I avoid strong sunlight for the simple reason that my subjects don't like it. I find flash light more pleasant than daylight.
