DO NOT use them on your face

I came home hot and sweaty after gardening. My wife thought it would be a real pleasure to wipe my face with one of those minty towels and I agreed. I wiped my forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and everything around my neck. It was cool and refreshing for a few seconds after I was done and then it felt like my whole face was on fire. I had to run to the sink and wipe it all down. It was like a chemical burn and it was very severe and uncomfortable. I thought maybe it was because I was sweating and my pores were wide open, but then my wife just wiped the top half of her forehead with a rag and after a few seconds she felt it burn too. Her reaction wasn't as violent as mine, but she only used a tiny bit, and the napkin was only slightly damp by then. She used another for her hands and apart from a slight tingling sensation that is normal with peppermint, she had no problems with it. She said her hands were sticky at first, but the stickiness went away as her hands dried. The package lists several uses for these wipes, including use as a post-workout refresher and use as a deodorant. My experience of using it on my face precludes using it post workout. My wife has tried wiping her armpits with one of these wipes and we can add this to our list of things we WILL NOT use them for in the future. Nothing wakes you up on a sleepy day like burning armpits. The peppermint scent on these wipes is wonderful and very strong so I will still use them on my hands and inanimate surfaces but never again on my face and neck.
