The first issue was installing the batteries and re-installing the battery cover. It's a simple process on any remote other than this one, but not on this one. The main problem was that it just didn't work. The DVD player he tried on is the HD860. It's possible this unit was just defective, but I didn't want to try another one from China so I just sent it back for a refund. I have another remote control from this company that worked great on my old Panasonic TV after the original finally failed. So I have nothing against this brand, but this particular device was terrible.
