Review on πŸ₯ƒ Exquisite Godinger 25868 Dublin Whiskey Decanter: Elevate Your Whiskey Experience by Gary Reed

Good price but not next to Baccarat

This lead crystal decanter is not only beautiful but also useful. I bought one to use for serving alcohol when I have guests over for dinner or drinks. (While I buy good quality spirits, the original bottles aren't always pretty and are sometimes large and awkward to serve.) This carafe is much more practical for serving spirits and looks good too. As you would expect given the low price, this decanter is not top quality crystal. I have some tiny blisters and it looks shaped rather than cut. However, it is shiny, has a good weight and feels good in the hand. If you don't put it next to your baccarat, your guests probably won't notice the difference. Because it's made of lead crystal, I don't recommend using it to store spirits for long periods of time. As with any lead crystal, the danger is greatest when the crystal is new. Since the amount of lead leached from the crystal is greatest on first use, I recommend filling it with a mixture of water and regular (5% acid) white vinegar and letting it sit for 24 hours before first use to let stand. . Then rinse and dry before filling with your chosen liquor. Also, I recommend washing it by hand instead of in the dishwasher. Dishwashing detergent is very harsh and the temperature in the dishwasher can be very high. There is no point in making changes. However, wash with mild dish soap and use warm water (not dishwasher hot, but hot enough to wear gloves) for best results.
