Review on Dorman 604-202 HVAC Blend Door Actuator: A Top-notch Solution for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury Models by Jay Swearengin

I bought this to replace the door switch on my 2002 Ford Explorer 4x4. It's exactly the same as what I received apart from the color and innards I envision. I didn't even have to disassemble the dashboard to get to it. I just removed a small section of the dash under the steering wheel and then a metal bracket, cut off some plastic and went on. Works, but slowly. I think the original part was faster. Also, you have to set the fan to maximum so that it opens the heater door. When the heater door is turned over, you can hear a characteristic knock. I am afraid that without turning the fan to the high position when switching to heat, the gears in the drive will be ripped off like the original. Maybe the factory part works better but for now it does and it took me about 40 minutes to install.
