It won't fit in a small book unless you put it on the latch in the department and shove everything else close, but then don't close the clasp. If you buy small souvenirs, they won't fit in your bag. Because the sections are very narrow, it is difficult to remove items from the pocket. On the other hand, this is the shoulder bag I was looking for because I don't like having the strap over my head every time I want to lower it. Before I bought this bag, I bought a Travelon Slim Cross Body Bag which would fit my size, but I had to return it because the strap was not shortened enough to wear it crossbody. This bag also comes with a shoulder strap. There is a zip pocket in the zip compartment and a zip pocket on the outside, which is convenient. It's well built and attractive. However, I will be on the lookout for a new bag for my next trip.
