Review on B.Tan Weightless Sunscreen For Face SPF 70 - Hydrating Facial Lotion With Vitamin C, Jojoba And Argan Oil For A Silky Feel. Sun Safe AF, Vegan, Reef Friendly, 3 Fl Oz. by Randy Butler

Not reef-safe, excessive coconut perfume

This sunscreen calls itself "reef friendly,” which has no legal definition. When I Google the active ingredients: avobenzone, homosalate, octisalate, and octocrylene, I find them all on lists of chemicals to avoid because of the harm they cause to reefs. This sunscreen is NOT reef safe. I’m taking off two stars for the false advertising. As soon as I opened this container, I smelled a very strong coconut fragrance, and I don’t have a very good sense of smell. There’s nothing on the label indicating it’s so strongly perfumed, although there’s "fragrance” in the fine print ingredients list. I happen to like the smell of coconut, but I don’t necessarily want to smell so strongly of it, since other people might not like it. It lasts a long time, too. I’m taking another star off for the excessive fragrance. The revain listing calls this "unscented.” I’m taking off another star for the false advertising. That leaves just one star.Other than that, it’s a good sunscreen. Unlike actual reef-safe sunscreens, which generally have zinc oxide as their active ingredient, this leaves no visible white residue on skin at all. It’s invisible on my olive skin. It goes on smoothly, and feels just slightly moisturizing, not greasy. So, if you and everyone you encounter throughout your day enjoys the smell of coconut, and you’re not planning to swim in the ocean, this is a good sunscreen. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
