is that an mp3 player or a wannabe ipod? Sold by LIDO Consulting in Frankfurt, Germany and made in China. It's neatly packaged in a plastic tray inside the box, along with a detailed instruction manual, a USB micro data/charge cable, a wrist strap, and a set of TRS headphones (no mic, no controls). It is a slim, small-sized player with a silicone-like tactile feel on its surface. It has a capacity of 16GB along with a MicroSD expansion slot for more storage. Its screen is less than half the length or width of the device. Photos and videos cannot be easily viewed on it. The icons on the screen are Music, Movie, Text, Recording, Radio, Browse, Game, Pictures, Settings. On the bottom of the player, between the micro USB data/charge port and the headphone jack, there is a small ON/OFF slide switch. The main controls are located in two round buttons on the player's face. The small inner button is PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT and the large outer button is MENU, BACK (BACK), FORWARD (NEXT) and VOLUME. I found these controls tedious at best, perhaps because the manufacturer added so many bells and whistles to the device to make it more like an iPod. The music, radio and settings options are of course necessary, but not so much the rest of the player's functions. But that's just my opinion based on the fact that it's marketed as an MP3 player and not an iPod or smartphone. Downloading music to the player is easy and simple. Just copy them from your PC. The device cannot handle all types of audio and video files. IB states it works with: MP3, APE, FLAC, WMA, WAV audio files; AMV video files (NOT MP4); TXT files; and JPG, JPEG. iOS users may need to troubleshoot certain Apple photo and music file formats. Charging is easy, but the icon on the screen while charging while it's off is a simplified 1-2-3 battery image that goes out for a while and then resumes and then goes out. Quit, resume, etc. So you can guess when it's fully charged. Since the player's battery is only 300mAh, I suspect that two hours with a regular phone charger should be enough. After selecting the (function) icon, a small battery level icon will appear at the top right of the screen. The sound isn't bad but I used my own TRS headphones which I recently bought here at Revain: ASIN # B083R8Q1DN LUDOS Clamor. Headphones. I haven't tested this player with my TRRS headphones (mic, volume +-, select <>) to see if there are additional features. The music is crystal clear, no static, no static, but the built-in equalizer is annoying at best. As far as I can tell it just lowers or raises the volume a bit and/or cuts off the high or low frequencies. You can only choose from seven presets, and none of them seem to fit the music. My biggest gripe with this player is the number of steps it takes to adjust the VOLUME while listening to a song, probably to prevent volume changes from being accidentally pocketed. The screen will normally dim after a few seconds to save power, so the first press of VOL will turn the EQ array back on for the song being played. Pressing VOL a second time displays a vertical fuel bar with a number above it. Then press the BACK or FORWARD button to increase or decrease the volume, fuel gauge and number. If you suddenly hear a song that's too loud, it takes about 5 seconds to turn it down. This may take 10 seconds or more if it's in your pocket. Another minus is the short hand strap instead of a simple clip or even a long neck strap. How many active people listen to music on the go with a player on their wrist? How many people dress casually with shirt pockets? Therefore, some may need to purchase a neck strap separately, but using a neck strap while exercising at the gym or engaging in other physical activities can be difficult, if not dangerous. I am returning this MP3 player to Revain for a different brand and better model MP3 player. Thank you Reven
