Surprisingly firm to the windshield, can be rotated vertically or horizontally. EDIT: Since my phone isn't rubberized on the outside (Samsung Grand Prime), it slides vertically. I could probably fix this by putting tape around the edges of the holder where the orange grips are (they're plastic rather than rubber), or by putting on a rubber-like case for my phone. I haven't tried it either, but I have no doubts that they will work as well. The windshield suction cup is still surprisingly tight.
