I'm an engineer so just to summarize what I got from this purchase: When the wand is off the 8 LEDs appear to be real UV light emitting diodes. Gold-colored LEDs. I have tested each LED with the QuantaDose 2nd Generation UVC Test Card and confirmed that 7 LEDs emit an effective germicidal UV light and only 1 LED does not (emits light but the test card shows it is NOT germicidal ). ). I suspect mine may be defective. The UVGI intensity on the test card is high and acceptable, I believe this will be enough to kill the virus within 5-10 seconds. Even though maybe one of the LEDs is broken, I believe the germicidal effect is still good and effective, so I decided to keep it.
