Review on 🍝 YHY 20 Ounces Porcelain Pasta Bowl with 8 Inches Diameter by Tim Hodzic

Questionable materials and safety, poor workmanship

First of all, contrary to what the seller says in the question and answer, they are heated in the microwave (they answer the question very cleverly by saying that the rim is big enough to get rid of hot food to stay away, but they're not telling the truth about whether the material self-heats, which is what happens). I microwaved a brand new plate straight out of the box for 1.5 minutes with nothing in it and they came out very warm. Given Made in China's very poor track record of safety and transparency, you probably don't want to trust it to be lead or heavy metal free - life is too short and you don't want to cut it short for a few dollars. . Also note that the cookware is NOT labeled as microwave safe. Hmm, not a good sign. If all of that isn't enough, the quality is below average for the price. The surface has bumps, pits, occasional sharp points, etc. At $30 for 4 you pay $7.50 per person; You can easily get something very similar for half the price at some major hardware stores and with no potential safety issues. Shame as the actual design of the product is excellent - the serrated part (which holds the food) has plenty of surface area and isn't too round which is what annoys me the most when using crockery. Do your research - you might find better, cheaper, and most importantly, safer ones.

Pros
  • DISHWASHER AND MICROWAVE SAFE: This chip resistant porcelain bowl is lead and heavy metal free, durable for use in the microwave or oven, can be worn on the lip without burning your fingers. The texture of the bowl is smooth and scratch-resistant and is easy to clean by hand or in the dishwasher.
Cons
  • Very expensive
