Review on πŸ”Œ Smart Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit - Wi-Fi Enabled, Wireless Timing Control compatible with Amazon Alexa by Mike Quade

Don't get confused - good product

At first I was disappointed with the installation of Smart Life, but note that there are THREE fans in the Smart Life app setup menu. Pick one (Wi-Fi) and you'll be amazed at how quick and easy the rest is. Alexa will recognize your device immediately if you already have the app installed. Unlike other Smart Life controlled devices, this gives you FULL control over fans and backlight in Smart Life. In Alexa, I only use fan control because my lightbulbs are inherently smart. Alexa offers full fan control. I haven't seen Alexa control the lights on the fan, so you might need lightbulbs too. This only matters if you want the light to turn on and off via Alexa. But then again, I suspect that if you tell Alexa to turn off the fan, it turns off the entire device, lights and everything. I'm not sure. OBSERVE SAFETY DATA when installing the device on a fan! Disconnect power to the fan from the junction box and STILL wear gloves. Alexa will not turn YOU back on if you get electrocuted. Color coding the wires should be fairly easy. However, if colored wires are not coming out of your ceiling, consult an electrician. The fan should also have colored wires and you should be ready to go. You don't have to detach the fan from the ceiling, but if you do, use a wire or chain to hang it from the bracket. Even if you have someone who supports them, they don't really like you. Most of all, I'm HAPPY I no longer have to pull the chain like I'm living in the 1970's. This was the last automation to be implemented in my apartment and it will be nice to include in my I'm Out and I'm Home programs.

Pros
  • Remove the ceiling fan and work with the cables and retaining bracket to find the correct place to install the removed ceiling fan assembly. To know how much space you have in the fan. Some "slim" fans may find it difficult to hide the control box. All wires are color coded and labeled for easy identification.
Cons
  • Reliability
