good for 2015 but good for lighting and electrics

I installed this on my wife's 2015 KL. Installation went smoothly, but it's definitely missing. The instructions suck and tell you to basically do it in reverse order than would be easiest. You will need a 1/4" and 3/8" split loom to get it right. You will need to remove the 8mm bolts from the bottom of the bumper, the 7m bolts from the exhaust pipes and the clips along the bottom of the bumper. Unlike most of them, you also need to power this thing - there's a 12v socket on the rear corner panel and a nice rubber grommet for routing cords right there. It's a lot easier than trying to run a cable to the hot tub on this type of vehicle - it's not like a frame vehicle that has provisions for things like that. There's only, and I mean ONLY, enough cord to plug this thing in and the pigtail to the pendant happens to be pretty short, but at least you won't be pulling on it. Once you open the bumper there are zip tie slots to allow you to route cables to the passenger side side light so it doesn't get in the way, go through the bumper not under it. Make sure you put this in a split loom to protect it. Use a piece of mechanical wire to fish it out in the side panel. The wire on the drive side goes straight up and you can tie the box right there in the corner, there are already a few holes for that. Cable for the power supply of the box. have a strange color, do not screw them in after cutting off the ring terminal. White is ground, black is positive. The pendant slides into the loom 3/8, rolls back through the bumper and simply ties and zips up to the receiver. Step out of the hole you inevitably cut for the hitch you're attaching. It would have been better to do this at the same time as the hitch - I already had a bike rack hitch and added it later. If you're using this, it's probably unreliable - crimp connectors are a joke anywhere there's actually a salty road winter. Installation took about 90 minutes including cleaning. Having to find power for this thing is definitely annoying

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
