This was my first foray into repairing any type of furniture. I knew I wanted to draw with chalk and then apply wax. Since I wanted to create a rustic shabby look I knew I needed a clear wax and then a dark wax if I didn't want too much dark depth (obviously if you go straight to a dark wax with no clear wax that gets the color quite intense). So I had to buy an extra wax brush (this one) to apply the dark wax. I've learned that you can't switch between clear and dark wax with one brush, so having two wax brushes is a must. In the image of the table above, dark wax is applied with this brush and then polished. This brush definitely made it easier to apply dark wax. I simply dipped the brush into the wax and applied it to the areas of the table I wanted to darken. The brush tended to flake a bit and getting the bristles out of the wet wax was a little tricky - I'd recommend keeping tweezers nearby to fish out the lost bristles. Overall it did its job well but was a bit difficult to clean - even with warm soapy water the wax is pretty stable.
