Bought one each for our two dogs, medium size for our 20 lb chihuahua mix and size XL for our 48 lb beagle. The average size is definitely too small for our 20 lb dog but it works. The XL is perfect for our large dog, although he looks like he's wearing a sleeping bag lol. But at least it covers his whole back. My main complaint is the location of the leash hole at the top. WAY too close to the top and nowhere near the seat belt loop on one of our seat belts. I ended up cutting a new hole on both of them and hemmed the edges. Otherwise a decent product for the price and it feels very warm/waterproof.
