Great price, good tablet and good size for the visually impaired

I like the ease of use, lots of features and a few features for the visually impaired. This is my first tablet. I bought it for my 90 year old mother who lives in a boarding and nursing home near us. We often visit weekly. However, we would like to keep in touch between visits. I bought this 10 inch tablet to make video calls with my dear mother who is legally blind. So the size and price were very attractive. I have not yet taken my mother to sit down and tutor her and her guardians. I will first contact Zonko Technical Support to find out why and how to fix the issue where the screen shows side view on the home screen and some other screens. It shifts on some screens but not all. Maybe it was because of the settings I made for my mother. I realized that I still need to subscribe to a phone line service to make and receive phone calls and video calls through apps like Google Duo and Whats App. Although I recently registered it with Skype, it doesn't require a phone line subscription. When I bought it I was under the impression that you only need to use Wi-Fi for voice and video calls. So now I have to decide if I'm going to keep the tablet phone line I had to buy and put in a SIM card for a $15 per month paid service. or simply use Skype over the Internet. Without a toll-free service line: Whats App., Google Duo and actual voice calls are not possible. The main use for family is to stay connected and video chat. I'm not sure if Skype is 100% secure or privacy guaranteed. ** I use Whats App on my phone daily; Reliability, quality and confidentiality 100%. I just recently signed up for Google Duo and made a video call and it was good. *But the app doesn't promise privacy: Google Duo is the other way around. No privacy. After finding and speaking to Zonko tech support, I'll report back with my other insights.
