Our cat loves to have his place in every room. She has a large play area in her living room but I wanted a place for her to hide, scratch and climb without damaging the furniture, especially at night, in our bedroom. It was important that the scratching post didn't take up the whole room as we like to keep the bedroom clean and quiet. This scratching post is the perfect size! It fits easily on the wall between closets and is high enough for a cat to climb on and feel safe, but not so high that it can climb furniture. She can sit on the tower and watch us when she feels like it instead of lying on the floor when she doesn't feel like lying on the bed. It was easy to assemble which is always a big plus. It feels very strong and she didn't damage it even after scratching and cracking while playing. For reference, she is an 8 pound cat. I would definitely buy it again and bring it for the nanny to take something from home. If you have a small to medium sized cat that loves to be on the floor, this should be fine for a small space!
