Review on K0970 Training Handle Swivel YELLOW by Ben Karlen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The handle is made of fairly strong nylon that has a simple loop and is sewn next to it.

It will be difficult to verify since it is so simple, but let's try. First, the item I received was exactly as described in the listing. Length and material are right. The color I received was blue which I think was random. The handle is a fairly strong nylon that is simply looped and sewn next to the triangular chain connector. The handle is attached with two stitches, so it must be strong enough. The end of the nylon handle has been melted down to fuse the fibers together and prevent them from unraveling. However, the fuse left a slightly sharp edge you can run over with a nail file if your dog tends to twitch at the chain. The chain itself is quite strong. I reckon it can hold a few hundred pounds. The links slide easily and don't get tangled. The clasp is perhaps its weakest point, but that's to be expected. The spring is quite stiff, which is both a good and bad thing. This is good because the dog cannot break off the leash, and the spring itself should be more durable. This is bad because a stiff spring can make it difficult for a restless dog to walk on or off the leash. So there is a compromise there. The housing for the shutter is also not very well sealed, so dirt can get in there and the mechanisms can fail. In general he is right. After all, it's a dog leash.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Periodicity
