KCG8433BM Burr Grinder OUTSTANDING

I've had many burr grinders in the $85-$120 range for years but lately I've been dissatisfied, the quality has seemed to be dropping. So I spent a few months comparing reviews of many brands and models and finally settled on this KitchenAid model (vs. the budget $250 Kitchen Aid coffee grinder - dirty, difficult to clean, etc.). Too many other brands in the $120-$220 range had numerous complaints of uneven grinding, noise, and galling that required frequent cleaning. or the bane of the grinders, STATIC clutter (which I was very familiar with!). This grinder has a solid, well-built design, just what you would expect from Kitchen Aid. Two things are absolutely AMAZING: 1) it's INCREDIBLY QUIET, just a low gritty rumble at low speed with absolutely no "motor hum" - the quietest grinder I've ever heard, 2) the anti-static technology is INCREDIBLE, I ALWAYS found that EVERY coffee grinder has static issues and some level of clutter is common; Not with this device, there is NO static charge. Grind drops into the bottom funnel and form a conical stack like salt or sugar without jumping/sticking to anything afterwards. In addition, the dosing system is really smart. It took me a few days of tweaking to set everything up, but it turned out really well. The grinding is very consistent in each batch and between batches. The hopper top gate is an ingenious move, I've never seen any other manufacturer with this feature, it makes cleaning easier - on rare occasions you may need to clean the burrs. - Whistle. There is no need to empty the grain before removing the hopper. I agree with a criticism raised by a reviewer recently; After playing with the grind, I think the coarsest setting - French Press - isn't coarse enough. At the other end of the spectrum is the best espresso grind. FYI, the optional (internal, mechanical) fine adjustment of the top burr comes set to coarse, so you can't make the French Press coarser, you can only adjust the Expresso closer to Turkish. Overall, this is the top $200. I have ever spent on coffee paraphernalia, no doubt about it. It's a pleasure to push the button and hear this thing quietly and quietly produce precise grinds in the exact amount and WITHOUT STATIC INTERFERENCE. I'm not sure HOW they achieved that last part, but it WORKS - NO hissing! Unless you plan on using coarser varieties like French Press, I 100% recommend this Kitchen Aid model.
