Review on Portable Solar Charger: BigBlue 28W Solar Panel with Digital Ammeter, 2USB (5V/4A) - Camping, iPhone, Huawei, LG, Google Pixel by Kyle Sutter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact and rugged enough, the ammeter is a great addition - I wish the 'smart circuit' was a little smarter.

Set up quickly and easily, looks solid. It worked with my Ipad Pro 9.7" although I think the 'smart' circuitry doesn't recognize it properly as it was only delivering 0.5 amps to my iPad Pro when it was running the full 2.0 amps I ended up charging the iPad (btw you have to leave it in sleep mode to charge it at such a low voltage) I only had it during the day and it seems a reasonable charge for 2 devices in both bright sun and on cloudy days. Haven't gotten more than 1.2 amps yet. However, I suspect this is more of a problem with devices that don't interact well with the "smart charging" circuitry. I got that because of the ammeter Bought it's great for knowing how well you're charging your device at any given time, but you can't read it in direct sunlight, you have to shade it with your hand A few things to note: - It will not be charged if e one of the 4 panels is closed or opened. - DO NOT use the built-in pocket to store your charger. It gets hot there because some genius decided to make the bag black, and the heat damages the lithium batteries. Please note that some high power devices will only charge when they are turned off.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Don't remember
