These white painted handles would be perfect for my project of turning a $5 junk shelf from IKEA's "as is" department into a wedding sign. I can confirm that these knobs work great on chipboard (as shown in the photo), but I've also tried them on driftwood and the results weren't nearly as good. Just make sure you get the right one for the interface you're working with. In my experience they work better with hard and smooth surfaces. It took about 1-1/2 of a pin to make the panel in the photo. The fine tip of the pen is great for more complex handwriting - these pens give you much more control over fine details than a brush. I was impressed that the nibs didn't dry out as I worked, even after leaving the cap open for about 20 minutes. From time to time I shook the pen and pressed it onto a piece of paper to paint over the color again and it seemed to work fine. One thing to watch out for is that when you've reached the end of your pen's color supply, the color will look like beads or dots when you try to draw a straight line that you have to go back to to correct with a new pen.
