Review on Go Pet Club Condo 67 Inch by Vera Hernandez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Honest review 6 months after purchase

I would give 3.5 stars if I could. it's not quite 4, but it's a tad better than 3. Overall, I still like it (officially "4"). I bought it in February 2018. Most of the reviews here are written within a few days of receipt while still praising it. I have waited 6 months to write this review to give an honest long term review. but we'll get to that in a moment. First the obvious. This is a great price for the size and overall quality of the Cat Condo. You won't find anything this big and cheap at your local pet store. It wasn't particularly difficult to assemble, and I like the feel of the levels' solidity and nice carpeting. 6 months later, the overall strength of the apartment is stable, although I pressed the top floor against the wall. it might be a little weaker if you leave it outdoors. I'm pretty sure the cats in the stock image have been photoshopped and scaled down. Like my cat, although perhaps a little plump, she is not a massive cat and will only fit in the bottom opening of the closet. The middle part is too small for all but a kitten (see my photos to see how a real cat fits this size). My cat immediately liked the cat condo and started using it both for sitting and as a scratching post. which she used 95% of the time in the bottom two posts. Now for advanced users. I don't think it took 3 months for the sisal rope downstairs to snap off my ONE cat (quicker if you have more than one cat). I'll be perfectly honest, the rope (below) fell apart very quickly. Simply put, the sisal rope used in this apartment is very thin and an ordinary cat will literally cut it with its claws and rip it apart fairly quickly. The rope on higher levels only serves now because my cat rarely uses it (all ropes are the same thickness). The bottom ropes wore out quickly from repeated use by a cat and after 3 months the whole floor looked awful (see photo). I have six photos in this review. 1: Apartment as built and new, 2: Apartment after a few months of use, 3: Comparison of the rope, what is and what must be used, 4: Materials needed for repairs, 5: Comparison of the restored rack with the original , 6: correctly replicated sisal rope poles. Unless you want to do a little extra in the home project arena and your cat has claws I wouldn't buy this unless you are ok with broken bars (as seen in my photos). if you don't want to put extra work into it i would only recommend it for a de-scratched cat because as a cat-scratched and unmodded it's a total failure board. However, if you don't mind adding a little extra work (or you've already bought this and now realized the same problem I did) it might be worth the savings as the rest of the apartment is pretty solid and very pretty. This cat apartment really needs a thicker sisal rope wherever your cat scratches regularly (the bottom two posts for me). In one of my attached pictures I took this size of the sisal rope that comes with this flat (on the right) versus the sisal rope you SHOULD use on the left (3/8" sisal rope). To restore you , you will need 3/8" pet friendly sisal rope. If you remake the bottom two posts they will each take about 24 feet to rewind. I bought the 50 foot here at Revain: Golberg 3/8" Sisal Rope - 50ft - pet friendly as it will fit two bottom racks (and no more) You will need a way to attach the sisal rope to the post, you really only need to pin the top and bottom as the middle is just a wrap There are many ways to do this, the easiest and cleanest way I've found is to use 3/8" cable clamps that are nailed to the post (you can use 3/4" knobs or use furniture nails) Bra at the moment To do this, just use a utility knife to remove the old, too-thin sisal rope and, starting from the bottom, pinch and nail one end of your 3/8 sisal rope and wrap it tightly at the top of the rack to the point you want to go to, attach another clip and nail it at the top. You can see photos of how much better this flat works with a properly sized sisal rope. Yes, it is more cost and effort. And if you don't want to mess around with that then don't let this apartment PASS unless your cat has claws. However the rest of the apartment is well built and fairly cheaply priced so even with the extra cost it's still cheap Dwelling that can be made functionally permanent. (and if you already bought this and are having the same problem, now you know how to fix it). Overall I still like it and keep it but you warned it would require getting this product!
