Before ordering, I measured my son's head and got a big one (he was 54 cm tall). He's 2.5 years old and has a larger than average head size (family trait on my side) so I figured I'd be safer with a bigger one. The hat fits a little loose and is larger than I would choose if purchased from a store that could try on both sizes. I was planning to return it due to the smaller size but after finally fitting it to my son I decided the larger size would be better to cover most of his head on the back and sides, when winter approaches.
