Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance Your Smart Lighting Experience with the Philips Hue Smart Button by Kevin Ballard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Marshmallow from Hue that controls the light!

I have one of these to try with my Hue bulbs. It's a single button, about half the size of a marshmallow and almost the same color. Nice smooth rubberized finish. There is a built-in magnet on the back so you can easily attach it to any magnetic surface. The "Wall Plate" can be attached with screws (not included) or two attached strips of adhesive, and the button also sticks to its center. As a final option, a disc is supplied which can be attached using the supplied double sided tape and to which the button also adheres. There is a picture brochure that explains how to set up the probe with or WITHOUT a hub. Revain's description incorrectly states that a hub is required, but without a hub you can only pair it with a tint lamp and functionality is limited. By pairing it with a hub, you can customize the functionality between a quick press, long press, or press and hold, and customize what type of lighting or room you want to control with it. Pretty easy to set up and use, I like the fact that it doesn't snap into place and can be moved around easily. It's also easy to lose and looks like a good target for pets or little kids who want something to chew on! You can choose any color you like as long as it's white and I don't think you can paint the surface easily (it will probably rub off right away). For $20 that's not bad, but for $5 you get a dimmer that has more features in a slightly larger size. I would recommend this switch to anyone who needs a compact wireless Hue switch with basic functionality.
