The biggest disadvantage of this mouse pad, besides its advantages, is its size. I love having a giant mouse pad but it's really hard to keep clean. It's so hard to stay clean that I'm surprised I don't often see people buy a lint roller and vacuum with it. If you want to keep this item clean, probably once a month soak it in a bath of detergent and rub with the soft side of a sponge. (Cleaning is necessary to remove the dirt that collects where you usually rest your wrists.) That being said, it would be wise to have a spare mouse pad. Another great feature of this mouse pad that can also be a downside. there is foam inside. It's nice and comfortable to rest against the wrists, but it does pull the mouse in a bit. It's not really noticeable, but it might bother some people. Not to mention that washing this item will take about a day to dry if you are in a dry climate. Can I recommend this mouse pad/desk mat? Yes I would. There aren't many options for something like this at the moment, especially in this size '48 x' 24. Not to mention it's one of the best, even though it's almost doubled in price since I bought it. I'm hoping they make a version without the foam pad inside as a therapy wrist rest works better anyway and would be a lot easier to clean. However, if your wrists are resting on a hard surface and you want to move the mouse in the space that a regular therapeutic mouse pad can give you, this is a great option.
