Review on Dorman HW13316 Disc Brake Hardware by Shane Picot

Revainrating 3 out of 5

About half the kit came in handy

So I plan to changed the brake pads a few months ago but quickly realized that I needed new rotors. I didn't change the hardware when I made the pads, but in retrospect I realized I didn't have enough anti-squeak springs, so I had to do it. I ordered this gear when I was making the rotors. Now that I've made the pads I had to replace one of the pressure plates because one of the drive pins was hopelessly rusted, so I have an original pressure plate and an aftermarket one (I think it's a Cardone brand). I found things to be very tight on the OEM torsion plate. When I tried to swap out the hardware, it got even tighter and it was almost impossible to reattach the pads. I ended up just reusing the old hardware (except for the anti-squeak springs, which I replaced with the ones included in this kit). There was more room to work on the aftermarket torsion plate and that wasn’t an issue. I gave this kit 3 stars because the anti-squeak springs were fine and probably needed replacing. The retaining clips, on the other hand, were more of a hassle and on one side of the car more trouble than it was worth. To be honest, I wish I could just buy anti-squeak springs, but that doesn't seem like an option.

Pros
  • Direct replacement - This disc brake hardware kit is designed to fit the original parts needed to repair disc brakes on certain vehicles
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
