A few weeks ago I bought a 25W PULACO mini aquarium heater. As the proud new owner of an adorable female betta fish, I wanted to be absolutely sure that the equipment I bought for her 5 gallon aquarium was 100% safe before releasing it. I put the PULACO heater in an empty 5 gallon tank for 3 weeks to ensure the heater was working safely and accurately. On the first day it took 6 hours to heat the tank from 69 degrees to my chosen target temperature of 78 degrees. After that, the temperature is kept between 78 and 80 degrees, without exceeding these parameters. I dipped my fingertip in the water to see if I was in shock but found nothing. I touched the immersion heater to make sure it wasn't hot to the touch as my inquisitive wife might have touched it. No problem. The only thing I would complain about is that the suction cups that attach the heating element sometimes come loose.
