They start in the same size which fits snugly on an adult wrist. I used to wear a pretty hair tie over my hair twice and kept it for light activities. I have to do 3 laps if I want to run (and tie my hair in a ponytail). However, they are SO stretchy that two turns isn't enough and they slip out of my hair quickly. 3 times for light activity and 4 times for running. The only problem is that they don't have good elasticity and stretch after the first use. In my photo the maroon is new (unstretched) and the cream has been used once and has stretched. Gray has been used for a tight ponytail, the seam is stretched/damaged and ready to tear.
