I was willing to tinker with them a bit after reading the reviews about how difficult they are to install, but all I had to do was mark the spot with a sharpie to mark, tape the waist and place the jeans, printed side up, on a hard flat surface, slide the back under the mark, slide the fabric all the way around the tab, grasp the edges of the bodice, gently tap the button with a deadbolt hammer until it clicks into place, then tap hard enough to drive the application into the face of the button. I highly recommend using a paper hammer or something with a small flat surface as a regular carpenter's or construction hammer will struggle to hold things in place. Remember that you can only shorten the waist of your jeans by about an inch. ; more and you cannot close the zipper completely. However, these little gems allowed me to wear my jeans for a few more months while my weight came off, so I highly recommend them.
